WOMEN-ONLY
ADVOCATES

Women-only advocates are individuals or organizations that support the existence and protection of spaces, programs, or services specifically for women. Their work often focuses on maintaining environments such as women’s shelters, support groups, sports categories, health services, and other settings that were historically created to address women’s safety, privacy, and social needs.

Advocates in this area typically emphasize the importance of environments where women can receive support, share experiences, and access services designed around female health, safety, and wellbeing. They may work through community organizations, legal advocacy, research, education, or public discussion to highlight issues affecting women and to ensure that programs originally established for women continue to meet their intended purpose.
